Postdoctoral Fellowship

Anthropology for the Ecozoic (A4E), housed in the Department of Anthropology at McGill University, invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position.  A4E is a node of the inter-university Leadership for the Ecozoic (L4E) initiative and collaborates closely with the Ecological Economics node housed at the University of Vermont (UVM).

This position is intended for an early-career scholar with a PhD in anthropology or a related field.  The ideal candidate will conduct original place-based research that has the potential to transform the way we think about and intervene in human-Earth relationships. We encourage applicants whose research integrates diverse disciplines and fields (e.g., philosophy, social theory and ethics; economics and law; visual and other experimental modes of ethnographic representation; the environmental humanities).

PhD Applications

The University of Vermont (UVM) in Burlington, Vermont seeks PhD students for Fall 2025 to comprise the sixth cohort of Leadership for the Ecozoic (L4E) fellows. This cohort will join the current L4E community of over 40 PhD fellows at UVM and McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.

Application deadline: December 1st, 2024.

​L4E is offered at the University of Vermont and McGill University. Successful PhD applicants receive a three-year stipend, (subject to students' satisfactory progress), to support their research, the L4E shared coursework, an internship with a partner organization, and other partnership-related work assignments. Tuition support will be available via scholarships and supplementary teaching assistantships.
